OUR MISSION STATEMENT
The Connecticut Institute for Professional Builders and Remodelers (CIPBR) is dedicated to championing trades education and cultivating a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence in schools, from middle school through high school, universities, and beyond. As a 501(c)(3) organization, we are committed to equipping students with the practical skills, knowledge, and opportunities essential for success in diverse trades industries and the evolving global workforce.
Education in All
Middle School
At the middle school level, trade school education introduces students to the concept of skilled trades, helping them understand the variety of career options available beyond the typical academic routes. This early exposure can spark interest in students who might not see themselves thriving in a traditional classroom setting. By integrating trade skills into middle school curricula, students can start to discover their strengths and passions, laying a strong foundation for future career choices.
High School
In high school, trade school education provides students with hands-on training and knowledge in specific trades, often while still allowing them to complete their general education requirements. This dual approach not only keeps students engaged but also equips them with valuable skills that can lead directly to employment after graduation. Trade school education offers an alternative to the college-prep track, catering to students who are more inclined toward practical, skill-based learning rather than theoretical studies. For many, this is a more effective pathway to a fulfilling career.
Beyond High School
After high school, trade school education becomes a vital alternative to college for those who wish to enter the workforce quickly and without incurring the significant debt often associated with a four-year degree. Trade school education offers focused, industry-specific training that prepares students for well-paying jobs in fields such as construction, plumbing, electrical work, automotive repair, and more. In a world where skilled labor is in high demand, trade school education provides an efficient and economical route to a stable and rewarding career.
Alternative to College
Trade school education serves as a practical alternative to college by offering specialized training that is directly aligned with industry needs. Unlike traditional colleges, which often require students to take a broad range of courses unrelated to their career goals, trade school education focuses on the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in a specific trade. This targeted approach not only shortens the time spent in education but also reduces the financial burden on students. For many, trade school education offers a more direct and financially viable path to career success, particularly in industries where practical experience is valued over academic credentials.
